HERhealthEQ projects have deployed 20 pieces of Cervical Cancer screening and treatment equipment, impacting 10K+ women.
According to the World Health Organization, cervical cancer is the fourth most frequent cancer in women worldwide, and about 90% of cervical cancer diagnoses occur in low- and middle-income countries. The American Cancer Society has also identified the 5-year survival rate for all people with cervical cancer is 66% but rises to 92% when detected early.
HERhealthEQ has deployed colposcopes, cryoablation devices, and thermal ablation devices to detect and treat cervical cancer.
10-FOR-10 | costa rica
In partnership with Lutech Medical, we’re deploying 100 colposcopes across 10 countries, including Costa Rica, Egypt, Fiji, Ghana, Lebanon, Mexico, Romania, South Africa, Zambia, and more.
Our first deployment was in Costa Rica, in partnership with Hologic inc., Lutech Industries, the Coyol FTZ and Fundacion Ana Ross.
We are targeting a usage of 400 women screened per month, per system. That’s a total of 24,000 women screened in the first 6 months of deployment.
This is our biggest project yet, with an impact of 500,000 women per year when fully deployed.
BURKINA FASO
In partnership with Jhpiego International, MedGyn and the Kimi Foundation, HERhealthEQ successfully delivered a video colposcope to the Department of Gynecology and Obstetrics of the Centre Hospitalier Universitaire (CHU, University Hospital Center) of Bogodogo in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso.
The colposcope will be used to detect precancerous cervical lesions, enabling local women to be treated early thus optimizing their treatment efficacy.
So far, we’ve screened 3,050 women for cervical cancer in Burkina Faso.
Tanzania I
In 2018, HERhealthEQ donated equipment to detect and treat cervical cancer in 5 major geographic areas in Tanzania: Kilimanjaro, Tanga, Singida, Mwanza, and Kigoma to address the country’s 38% rate of cervical cancer.HERhealthEQ partnered with MedGyn Products, Inc. andTanzanian company, SkyConnect to donate cyroablation equipment, and a cervical cancer screening platform, SEVIA, that leverages mobile health for real-time cervical cancer screening. Local physicians are using VIA+ screening and visual inspection via the Android app, with the first screening images sent to a remote oncologist. The oncologist then provides a second opinion and evaluation, giving feedback whether to proceed with a biopsy. This initiative is not only saving the lives of women by detecting and treating cervical cancer, but it is also helping to develop the skills of local physicians in the more remote areas of Tanzania.
Tanzania II
In January 2022, HERhealthEQ launched our second project in Tanzania against Cervical Cancer.
Two Lutech Colposcopes and two Wisap Thermoablation devices alongside partnership with HERhealthEQ, were deployed to the WAJAMAMA Clinic in Zanzibar, Tanzania. These devices will be able to screen and treat a minimum of 250 women per quarter, drastically assisting in the reduction of instances of cervical cancer in the country.
As of Q4 2022, this project has screened have screened 300 women for cervical cancer in Tanzania.
Our total impact in Tanzania is 702 women.
vietnam
HERhealthEQ partnered with CureCervicalCancer (CCC) to deliver 3 thermal ablation devices to the Hue province of rural Vietnam in August 2019. The thermal ablation devices assist in the prevention and treatment of early stage cervical cancer.
